You forgot about Barabanov, but that’s no big deal. He hasn’t played a single game yet, so no telling how he will do anyway.

No 1RHD brought in, which is a bit of an oversight when performing a roster overhaul like this. But again, no big deal. Just got to assume there would be other trades pending not listed here.

Now the trades/ signings:

1). Not sure I would do this if I was Dubas. We could have just re-signed Clifford and it would have cost us the same 2nd. Instead, we would now lose both the 3rd (Clifford trade), and the 2nd (this trade) . For a team short on prospects, it could be a huge blow.

2). Yes. Even though a lot of guys on here would balk. Now that Pittsburgh bought out Johnson they could use a LHD like Dermott. I think they would be very happy to make this deal.

3). (Kerfoot - Bennett) + Andersen = 1st. We downgrade our 3C for a 1st basically, as Andersen (from our POV) wouldn’t be anything more than a cap dump at this point, having already brought in Murray. It’s a no-brainer if Calgary would take it.

Maroon would be a good signing. But at the same price as Clifford ($1.6), would he be a better choice? The other thing is, he just won two cups back to cack on different teams. There have been only three guys to win the cup on three or more teams, and they were all much better players than Maroon (Nieuwendyk, Claude Lemieux, and Recchi) . Is Maroon a player that would be lumped into that elite crowd? I don’t see it happening. Not saying it couldn’t happen. But the chances of Maroon even winning a third cup have just diminished basically to zero. Let lone winning a third cup three years in a row on three different teams. I know it isn’t a valid reason not to pursue him. But it is still something to consider.

My bad. There are now 11 players to have won the cup on three or more teams.

Still not very good odds for Maroon getting another here though. Almost doesn’t even change anything at all if you look at it from that (very wrong) perspective.

Murray?
Why Murray?
His past two years have. Been atrocious.
If he was a true #1 Penguins would be trading Jarry not Murray.
Plus you want to pay him 5 x $4.75 when the guy that took his job just signed for 3 x $3.5.
Doesn't make sense to me.

I do like the idea of sending Andersen and either Kerfoot or Johnsson to Calgary for Benntt if the Flames are interested and they are looking for a goaltender.

A 2nd to CBJ for Anderson works well too.

First is possible, but I think CLB wants NHL player in return for Anderson of they move him.

Even though they signed Jarry, I don't think we get Murray for Dermott.

I would be a little shocked to say the least if we got Bennet AND a 1st for Anderson and Kerfoot. Take out Bennet and maybe, although I don't know why Calgary would want Kerfoot.
