I hope the Leafs don't sign Pietrangelo.
They already have too many over priced players to fit in another one who will soon be 31 years old.

I do have a proposal:

To Anaheim: Nylander

To Leafs: #6 overall.

Leafs could afford to take back Kessler's contract and put him on LTIR for one season to sweeten the deal.
This deal would have to be done at the draft to make sure the "Marner clone" is available at #6.
Then Leafs then pick right wing, Lucas Raymond to replace Nylander and save $6 million a year for the next 3 years as he will be on an ELC.
Many articles I have read feel that Raymond may be the 3rd or 4th best player in the draft.
Raymond also plays a more physical, aggressive forechecking game than Nylander.
That would be a bonus.

Kessler is rumoured to be working hard to come back, so that could blow up in our face if he still wants to play.

Otherwise, to me, it is one step forward but two-3 steps back until whomever we draft is ready. Now if you have a way to use that pick or our 15th to get a top pair D on a good contract and not take Kessler, I could be in for that. Of course that depends on if Ana would rather have Willy.

Why would you trade Willy for 6th overall if the intention isn't to sign Petro? The only reason Marner/ Nylander get traded is because you need space to sign or resign guys. Even if we won Laffy Taffy he wouldn't be better than Nylander right away.

I would rather keep Nylander vs. Marner. Marner will be difficult to move; he' paid to much and less affective than Nylander.

Trade Marner to the Rangers for Anthony DeAngelo, Alexander Georgiev, and their 2020 3rd rd pic.

Go Leafs!

what about Johnson and maybe Bracco for Kesler 50% retained (nothing retained if he's done) + Bostons First.

Apparently Kakko, georgiev and 1st overall was offer for Jack Eichel. so guys making 10 plus million For 4-6 years and not 100 point or 40 goal players Yet actually do have trade value. this undervaluing players due to their cap hit is silly. Like I’ve said if a team really loves the player and the team that player is on doesn’t want to trade them expect a monster package proposed to them. Usually to be declined. Also actual money owed plays huge role in these trades. Even more than the cap hit.
