It would also probably be a lot cheaper to get Hamonic unsigned. In fact, would probably be preferable because then Leafs can be the ones that negotiate the extension.

It’s only a risk if you plan on keeping him. Lol. Leafs have three good defensemen signed past the date of the expansion draft. So anyone brought in now is probably only going to have a maximum one year left after this is my guess. Anything after that and we probably lose someone, depending on the forward we expose. Right now whatever seventh forward we expose would likely be Seattle’s puck.
