Without looking at the salary cap, what does everyone think of doing a deal with Calgary

To Calgary: nylander, johnsson
To Toronto: tkachuk, frolik

Calgary gets much needed scoring depth and Toronto gets someone who can muck around. Frolik is gone (I believe) at the end of this year. Kind of tough figuring out the value here because frolik has negative value right now and Calgary fans (I live in Calgary) would have a meltdown. That saying, Calgary needs guys that can score.

I would bring up Korshkov, Archibald and Sandin and demote Timashov, Shore, and somebody else- Arch is what the leafs need right now, Korshkov is tearing up and Sandin is better than Ceci by a mile.

Power forwards like ktchuck that can score are rare. I don't see Calgary trading him for a softer nylander.

One-for-one Calgary wouldn’t do it, but the addition of Johnsson makes this deal a winner. There’s no doubting Tkachuk is the better overall player, but he’s not leaps ahead of Nylander. Tkachuk is tier 2 player, while Nylander is tier 3, as is Johnsson. Frolik is garbage.

Calgary might say no, but Leafs definitely say no.

Great trade for the Leafs, not for the Flames. Marner for Tkachuk seems more fair to me, . maybe Marner and Johnson for Tkachuk and R Anderson.

1 for 1 no. Adding Johnson would not move the needle in favor of toronto. There just is not a reason to move him. Especially for baby skin soft nylander when calgary has to play in the west with the big boys.

Calgary probably passes just because tkachuk is the new face of a power forward.

Calgary isn’t very strong in Wing. They have Gaudreau, Tkachuk, Lindholm. After that the skill level drops significantly. Nylander and Johnsson give them a full second line. Tkachuk is currently second line too btw, and Nylander and Johnsson both can play top line obviously. So they really round out the top 4.

Tkachuk is obviously the better player, and I can easily see Calgary turn this down. But the value is there, and I can easily see Leafs turning it down too. I suppose if one of Calgary’s top line players gets hurt bad and goes down indefinitely they would do this. Desperate times call fire desperate measures.
