Just throwing this one out there. We need cheap entry level contracts on the team but we also need to get a young top defensemen like Edvinsson from Detroit. My proposal

Marchenko for Edvinsson
Then Rielly to wherever this season or in the off season. Leafs can sign Edvinsson for $8-$10 mil
and still have money to sign Kuch next year or McDavid the following year!

Leafs can't sign Edvinsson without dumping a lot more than Mo. He will have the prorated salary like Willy did when he held out.

I have absolutely no interest in Kuch and his 20m ask on a 6-7yr deal.

Marchenko and Rielly combine for around $11 million this year. Then next year Marchenko goes to $12.5 million.

From my understanding, if Edvinsson was to sign for $10M today (Nov 5), his pro-rated cap hit for this season would be about $12.4M. If he waits until Dec 1, it goes up to about $14.8M for this season. Leafs could wait until the off-season to move a contract like Rielly's. If Edvinsson is traded, it will have to be a team with lots of cap space or they are sending back lots of cap to make it work.
