Here’s my take on Knies: seeing what a team like the Panthers are building, one would think you need more Knies, not less. So much going around on what’s possible. I mean I’ve even saw that the Leafs were asking about Tom Wilson, so like who knows what Chayka is gonna do, but we can’t just be small skilled dudes again.

We need a mix. Florida has added size, yes. But with Chucky and Hathaway, who both can take undisciplined penalties. Team strategy against them will be to look to get them taking those penalties and feast on the power play. The trick is getting small skilled players that aren’t afraid of tough areas and getting large players disciplined enough to cause havoc in front of the net and I.
The corners without retaliation everytime. Carolina is the footprint to follow.

I agree with the statement, but you also need the big guys who can do it all, much like Knies. You can teach what he brings; that’s why there are so few in the NHL and why the price for him is so high.

Knies is a Stud!!!! I’m 50/50 when it comes to moving him. If we do, it better be out of the conference and the offer is soooooo good you just can’t turn it down. We can’t assume Matthews is resigning. Gotta think outside the box.

I’m sick of hearing about Florida and the apparent model of success. There’s no blueprint for winning the championship, period.

Agreed!!!! But love what Florida is do’n. Old school hockey and tough to play against. I’d buy a ticket to watch’m. Problem is, no goalie. Another problem is they’re old and can they stay healthy. Washington is taking note too and getting bigger by the day.

I hope they keep Knies as well unless they get a deal they can't refuse. A couple smaller skilled guys is fine, but you need guys in there to protect them so they feel uninhibited to play hard and go to the net or in the corners. Even if a small player has the desire, if they are getting crunched all the time with no one having their back, they don't have the body size to keep taking a beating.
They typically alter their game or they won't have a long career. Need some big men that have some skill and can keep up pace of play that don't back down and some big men that take it to the other team to keep reminding them it's going to be a tough night for them.
