So do the Leafs really have a chance at all to get Trochek? Or are the rumblings orchestrated as most are from the agents' offices leaking things to the press and insiders? They like doing it to raise the stakes to the actual preferred team by raising the hopes of the other rumoured teams to give offers. It is a twisted little way they do things. The team their client wants to go to overpays somewhat sometimes bidding against fictitious other offers. But the team he leaves from sometimes gets a good deal. This way of doing things keeps the agents in both teams' good books to a point because eventually with the larger agencies they will be calling that agent to orchestrate a similar deal in reverse later.



People underestimate the agents' role in these trades and how it comes together.

Trocheck has been floated going to quite a few teams but the one that might have the inside track is Pittsburgh. It's his hometown, and one of his favourite players is Sidney Crosby. It comes down to what New York wants and if Pittsburgh would pay it. Vinnie would be an idol in Pittsburgh.

Am I the only one that thinks Trochek is extremely overrated? I don't understand the hype.

I believe they're in on Vinny as he fits the timeline of 2 years with Mathews, but I just hate the idea of it.

I agree. I have. Ever wanted him here. He is starting to slide a bit. But in Pittsburgh they will love him.

I just wanted to comment on how a lot of the rumours of players going to places starts through agents feeding a narrative. It’s all about doing business and using smoke and mirrors.

@ Hrenkin. Younger centres are hard pry loose. We are going to have to find from within and in meantime find reasonable priced contracts for short term with older guys. I would as I have said for a while like to see Cowan go to centre. So for Trocheck at his cap and we could swing a deal to get Kadri out of Colorado at the same cap as Vinnie.

I would love to see a veteran line composed of 3 Centres. Kadri, Vinnie and J. T. That would be line absolutely would smother any line they were matched against.
