Domi gets swapped out for Mangiapane, and their cap hits are pretty much identical anyway.
Domi's defensive game has always been weak, so Andrew Mangiapane would be a perfect trade target to move Domi out. Mangiapane actually throws hits every now and then (unlike Domi), forechecks way better, and while Domi has the better passing/ playmaking, he just doesn't really fit anywhere in Toronto's lineup right now. So Mangiapane could be a solid test run in that spot.

Leafs fans seem really annoyed/ frustrated with Mangiapane lately, but he's still the more versatile guy overall than Domi.

So why not?

So Domi makes $3.75m has 31pts. Plays LW/RW/C. Yes he’s signed for an extra year. Mangia ? makes $3.60m has 12pts and only plays LW. Yes he’s signed to one less year. He supposedly was a penalty kill guy but has fizzled in that department.

Other than the one year less on his contract, he’s ?. Domi’s play hasn’t been as bad as everyone says. Especially lately, and he’s a good playoff guy. I believe Oilers get the better player here. Just my opinion by looking at performance this season.

You saying he doesn’t fit anywhere in the Leafs lineup is a bad observation.

Domi looked the worst I’ve seen yet, last game. Call it rust if you want, but he also looked soft as butter. Guy is more terrified of contact than Mitch was. Like holy ? Max hit someone, talk ?, anything. Just turning pucks over and not winning any puck battles.

Don’t see any use for Domi right now and I have defended him in the past because he usually shows up for playoffs, but we ain’t getting there and he is apart of the reason why.

I have to admit I agree with Blowhard on this one. I commented on another post that Domi is worth way more than most are saying on here. As I said on the other post... Domi has 11 points in the past 11 games and I guarantee if a team wants him at the deadline he has heated up at the right time to get a way, way, way better return than Mangianpane.

You don't do a swap of a 3rd line player who can also fill in on the 2nd as he has lately for a 4th liner; he is playing his way out of the league.

Neither team wants the other player. Doesn’t benefit either one of them. Domi can’t play well in the playoffs when they don’t make the playoffs! Trade him for whatever you can get draft pick wise

Don’t want either player.

Your comment makes no sense Ricky Bobby. He has proven to be a good playoff player. So saying the oilers can’t use him is just plain wrong and shows your lack of hockey knowledge. He had 7pts in 13g last year and was a plus player. The year b4 he had 4pts in 7g and was a plus player. He plays up and down the line up. Leafs don’t need or want Mangia? cause they are retooling, but Domi wouldn’t be a bad pick up for oilers as a playoff add.

I would take Henrique at $3m expiring and retain say 750k so Domi comes in at $3m for the remainder of his contract for the oilers. Leafs free up the cap space and oilers get a more versatile guy. FYI Domi has almost tripled the points of Mangia? this season.
