This is based off what I just wrote on the Talk side. Yes, Matthews would have to waive his NMC.

Chi
Matthews $13.5M

Tor
Teravainen $5.4M
Boisvert ELC
Korchinski ELC
2026 1st(CHI-top 5 protected)

Chicago immediately improves getting Matthews. Enough said.

Toronto gets a useful top 9 LW, a very good C prospect in Boisvert, a very good D prospect in Korchinski and a 1st in this upcoming draft as well as about $8M in new cap space and and renewed assets. No, they do not get a top line centre orelite prospect back, which is not ideal. But they now have the assets to chase a guy like Tage Thompson for instance, who may be tired of being in Buffalo.

Or, would Chi do Tera, Levshunov and Boisvert for Matthews as another idea.

As much as I like it, no 1st for 2 years kills it for me. You can't have that pick be in the top 10 and Boston get it again.

LL. I'm not convinced if they trade Matthews and Rielly they automatically become a bottom feeder. If they get a good return for Matthews and player for player for Rielly, they may have the makings of a middle of the pack team. If Tre could pull off some other moves, who knows what direction they head in.

That’s not enough for Matthews.

Carlo, Robertson, Villeneuve for Parayko.

I don't think the pick coming back should be a top 5 protection. Chicago is getting a consistent 40 goal scorer with 69 potential.

I think the biggest question is, what's harder to do, trade matthews for value, or aquire a top line winger to play alongside him to get him back to the player we need him to be.
