Kerfoot to Nashville for Jeannot. They add speed to their roster and Leafs add toughness and get 2.7 in cap room. You could also add Roberston to get the deal done and receive a late round pick back
Holl to Oilers for a pick.
Flip that pick to Vancouver for Schenn. Schenn is not a needle mover but replaces Holl as 5-7 Dman.
Nylander and Sandin to Coyotes for Crouse, Chychrun and Bjugstad.
Salary out 13.9 mil
Salary in 11.5 mil

Why would NSH ever send Jeannot for Kerfoot straight up? That's just NSH losing a trade on purpose.

Totes said no to 2nd overall for Chychrun alone. They aren't taking a rental+ for him plus adds.

They take Kerfoot and Robertson as Kerfoot adds speed to their line up which they need. They also get Robertson in the deal and send back a pick with Jeannot.
As for your second critique, who is the rental? Nylander and Sandin under contract for next season. yotes should have no problem signing Nylander to an extension.
The Yotes trade is a hockey trade. Arizona gets the best player statistically as well as a really good prospect, and Leafs get some useful pieces for this year and the future.

It would take a lot more than Kerfoot to pry Jeannot loose from the Preds.
That said I like all your adds.
I have been advocating for Leafs to acquire them all.
Leafs should have traded a 3rd for Bjugstad instead of a 1st for O’Reilly.
A 4th would probably have gotten Acciari while leafs would have still had the first and second to apply to the rest of your targets.
