2018-2019 season:

Sign Nylander

February: offer Gardner contract extension 5years at $5.5m, if he says no trade him for a defender (RD). Now Gardner is not my favorite player and I use more profanity on him than anyone else but numbers don't lie (I know video don't either) and he will get paid more than this somewhere else

Trade deadline: Pick up some grit and a veteran RD without giving up 1st.

Thats it.

I don't think anyone realistically expects the cup this year but a series win is a must.

Numbers lie. Anyone looking at Giveaways stats alone would be missing what we all know: he’s very good at feeding the forwards a breakout pass so they can rush in and score, but defensively he’s a major liability. Gardiner is a beneficiary of the team in front of him, not the other way around. On a team with less gifted forwards, he would not be putting up these numbers, as we can easily see by comparing his stats to before 2016/ 2017 season to the last 2.5 years when Matthews and co joined the team.

With all these teams who care about the stats, some of which have good enough RD who can back him up, he is still good trade bait. IF, and only if points are what they need. Otherwise his defense is a liability. Him we can replace from within.

Gardiner hit 2 people last night and actually looked like he gave a heck. lol

Numbers lie but if he can play like he did last night we have a good dman. unfortunetly, that won't happen.
