1) Kadri won't score 30 on the third line. He might get 20 from here on out, so his contract is a bit pricey given his future production. I could see a nice fit with Laine and Ehlers as a second liner for the Jets.
Scheifele at $6.3M and Kadri at $4.5M is money well spent.
2) Lowry is a $3M big body, 25, adds physicality to the line-up and kills penalties. Paired with Kapanen and you add speed which would be a good mix.
3) Trouba is RFA and might be a challenge. The money you save from
Kadri, and the money left from Gardiner is about $6M. He will want $8M most likely so this deal weighs on the conviction of GM Dubas to sign Trouba, along with Matthews, Marner, and Kapanen this summer (or earlier). If that all can't be accomplished I don't see this making enough sense for the Leafs.
4) Gardiner is a decent LD that present the Jets with the same issue the Leafs will have with Trouba. The Jets need a LD as bad as the Leafs need a RD.

I agree it looks good for both teams, and the cap seems to be almost balanced out but I don’t think the leafs will trade Kadri right now, if he continues to struggle then maybe but they may test him with Matthews and see how that goes first.

No chance from Winnipeg as the Jets are giving up the two best players. Lowry is a far better shut down center than Kadri and Trouba is a top pairing RHD, while Gardiner is a second pairing LHD.
There is absolutely no incentive for Winnipeg to make this trade as it immediately makes the Jets worse.

Lowry is a third line center. Kadri is a second line center.
Lowry is on the ice to prevent goals. Kadri is on the ice to score goals.
Kadri is better than Stastny.
Kadri has an excellent contract.

Laine Kadri Ehlers.

Kadri has come back down to earth this year and can't maintain his unrealistic shooting percentage. He'll be looking at around 20 goals maybe. Plus he isn't a good playmaker, so he wouldn't fit well with Laine and Ehlers. No thanks.
