Looking towards the upcoming draft, the Leafs really should go all in and trade up for D - E. Bouchard. He fits exactly what they are looking for.

He's a big, strong, puck moving D with a Cannon of a shot! And...he plays for London, so we all know how much the Leafs love Knights players!

His stats are 20G 50A 54GP, he's 6'2", 185 lbs

It will however cost a big package

Based on a value chart, assuming he's not taken til 7th (Bob Mckenzie's ranking) and that is Detroit

To TOR: 2018 1st round pick (7)

To DET: 2018 1st round pick (25) + 2018 2nd round pick + 2019 2nd round pick

The value for the 7th pick is about 665, for the Leafs 1st about 300, so they need to add a couple more picks to make up the value.

I would say, if you can do this, swing this deal!

I like your thinking, I just can’t see the Wings giving up a top ten pick without being overwhelmed with value. That team needs serious help. It would be like the Leafs trading down a couple of years ago.

It was only hypothetical if he were around for say the 7th pick. Yes, tough for a team to trade down, but the Wings need a lot of prospects. Their cupboard is empty.
