Here's a trade proposal for next year depending on whether or not this player has another bad year.

CGY: Sam Bennett
TOR: Leivo, Soshnikov, 2018 2nd round pick

If Bennett has the same year this year, 35 point season, I can't see Calgary expecting too much for him.

Bennett is a great two way centre who just hasn't put it all together in the NHL yet. He's got grit and his compete level is out of this world. I feel like Babcock could really get him going along with all the depth on the team right now.

Here's his draft preview to show you why I think he's a perfect fit for us. (You'll see why)

These would be my projected lines for next year:

Hyman-Matthews-Nylander
Kapanen-Bennett-Marner
Marleau-Kadri-.

I submitted my post early by accident, here's the Bennett preview

Lines again:
Hyman-Matthews-Nylander
Kapanen-Bennett-Marner
Marleau-Kadri-Grundstrom
Martin-Gauthier-Brown

Rielly-Borgman
Gardiner-Zaitsev
Dermott-Liljegren

(Not sure If liljegren's defensive play will be ready for the NHL next season but I'm hoping so)

I don't know about everyone else but I feel that leivo will be a excellent replacement for jvr in the near future.

His size and skill would be great in a top6 role and I feel frustrated that he hasn't been given a permanent spot on this roster.

I think Leivo is an NHL player, maybe top 6 but I don’t know. I hope he will get in with Brown on that fourth line the odd night and swap out Martin when possible.
Brown looks way too good to be on a line with Martin and Fehr, with Leivo in there that line would actually be pretty capable of putting up some offensive numbers.

Obviously Martin serves an important purpose but there’s not reason Leivo can’t replace him on chosen nights. He deserves to be playing on a nightly basis and there’s not many other teams that would have him as a 13th forward. Toronto is jus stacked with forwards.

Completely agree with you, when you are playing a soft team like pittsburgh put leivo in to run power against power and maybe put polak in on D so if anything happens someone is there to settle the piece.
