Marincin, Fehr and Leivo
To Vegas for
2018 5th

Clear contracts and cap space, Vegas gets Leivo who shows some upside and could be a good fit in their middle six and Marincin in a serviceable D. Fehr is a dump and why Vegas only gives up a 5th.

I think JvR trade could hold off til the trade deadline where he can be shopped as a rental and get a big return. a 30 goal scorer for a contending team would pay a premium, look at what Minny dished out for Hanzal.
JvR at deadline can definitely get a 1st and a prospect.
Lou and company never wants to make moves to make the team weaker today, but not moving JvR makes the team worse tomorrow if it means not being able to sign one of Nylander or Marner.

Yea, but it's not Leivo alone. They're also taking a 2 million dollar contract off the leafs hands and opening up 3 roster spots. Vegas gets Leivo for taking Fehr.

If there's opportunity to clear cap space for giving up minimal value I say do it. and a pick is a pick, never know where you might find a hidden gem. Leivo still isn't cracking this roster so why keep him around til his value is completely diminished. to me his value is already pretty low but for Vegas he could actually be serviceable and play a role

Leivo is behind Marner, Nylander, Brown, Kapanen on the right side and behind JVR, Marleau, Komarov, Hyman and Martin on the left. and soon will be behind Bracco and Grunstrom.

This is a horrible trade proposal. All three pieces have some value to the leafs albeit in depth roles. The potential in Leivo is middle six. I think Marincin makes $1.25M. If we need space just bury him and save $1.025M. Fehr could also be buried. But both provide depth. That is worth more than a 5th to the Leafs.
