with Mcdavid setting a new bar in contracts, the leafs will have to pay Matthews Marner and nylander A LOT of money, and JVR is going to want atleast 6 mill.

also 30 goal scorers aren't even rare to find, look at johnathan marchessault. there are tons of 30 goalscorers, let's face it Marner was the one who made JVR better.

That's not really an accurate statement. There were only 26 players who scored 30 goals. That is less than 1 per team. However, guys that score more than 25, there are quite a lot (over 50)!

Leafs need to trade JvR, I don't even think it needs to be for a D. Being so close to cap limit, they very well could elect to trade him for picks/ prospects. trading JvR for a top 4 RHD would mean another contract coming back worth north of 4 mil, if they're a top 4 d under 4 mil other teams aren't trading them.
Can't believe Toronto didn't invite Raddysh to their camp.

Myers, 2018 2nd and 2019 4th (3rd if he resigns)

I don't know of too many young RHD prospects, and of the ones I'm familiar of most teams aren't trading them.

I think the best route for Toronto is to acquire a young D a year away still so they can save money approaching the trio of crucial signings. Hopefully Lou can find a way to keep it under 25 mil between the trio.
