This is a financial type trade that even though more talent is going to Toronto the Islanders need to shed for Cap Space.
The Leafs are still ok this and next year taking on those 3 player Salaries.
Soshnikov and CCarrick are just 2 of the many young players the Leafs have and I look at it as a positive move having those 3 Vets on the Leafs to help the young guns they have.
Time for the Islanders to tear it down some and this type of trade does that.

Why are we trading for a terrible contract in Ladd that is for seven years for a 31 year old who can't produce anymore and is not needed from the leafs? Also we don't need to trade our young promising d man for an old 32 year old boychuk that is going to slowdown?and you want to trade for halak? 2 more years at 4.5 mill that just got put on waivers? Soshnikov and carrick do not need to be traded right now but enroth can! Don't forget that we are still rebuilding! Let it take time leafs will make the right trades and get better every year!

Making the playoffs for Leafs are slim. So, taking in 16 million in contracts, (specially 2 long term deals) doesn't make sense.

One of the worst trade proposals I have seen on here. Ladd's contract is arguably the worst in the NHL right now. Absolutely not!

The only players we should trade this year is JVR, BOZAK,KOMAROV for either picks or a young good defence men/fowards that's it!
