They want a young LH D, but Gardiner is only 4 years older. Already signed for 3 more years, so it does fit what they want.

Winnipeg is further along and should challenge for a playoff spot this year. The Jets need vets up front.

Gardiner is well suited to a fast skating team like the jets.

Maybe send them Michalek and Greening, for Drew Stafford and Mark Stuart Contracts are roughly even for this year.

I'd rather give Rychel his chance over Michalek playing there and Rychel hasn't even got a point on the Marlies yet.

The Leafs DON'T want to give up Gardiner. so many of these proposals include Gardiner which solves nothing (IMO).

The goal is to somehow land Trouba without giving up a Dman. the only solution or trade chip they have is giving up JVR.
