JVR dosent really fit the Leafs age sense he will be heading somewhere else in 2 years because he dosent fit into Toronto. The May as well just trade him for Max value.

They still need vets to play with the kids and JVR is on a great contract so give it a rest with the attempts to trade him now, it isn't going to happen.

I like the Washington deal. I think samsonov will be a good goalie. I'd rather a pick with samsonov instead of mj but I'd be happy either way.

People that think Toronto shouldn't trade JVR because he is on a very good contract don't realize that is why they should trade him. His contract is what every team wants. A big winger that plays in you top six and will score 30+ with a number one center.(not the number 2&3 centers that he has been playing with in Toronto.)

What is JVR worth?

You will get a lot more for JVR with 2yrs remaining on his contract then as a rental. If you wait until the deadline, you will get a 1st round pick and a prospect. That first round will be a late first. There is a big difference (better odds) with picks in top half of the draft.

I agree that you need veterans tthat play in your top six to show the kids the way to play the game. JVR is not the only player in the NHL that can do the job. Toronto can afford to take on a good player on a very bad contract (expensive) for two years to mentor the kids and it will cost them next to nothing to get him. Look at Rick Nash. NYR just want him off there books. I think he still has acouple of 20+ goal season in him. Then the kids will start to come up for there next contract and his 7.6mil comes off and it gives Toronto the money to sign them.
