Leafs trade Kapanen, Aberg*
Blues trade Schwartz, Kyrou, Allen**
*Aberg has to be included for cap purposes
**Blues retain 50%

Schwartz is older, slower, costs more, just had a very bad year, and only has two years until UFA, so we need a little something for long term. Kyrou didn’t do too bad his first year of pro, and even played a few games in the nhl. Blues have one of the best prospect forward groups right now and can afford to trade one of Kyrou, Thomas, Kostin, Fabbri, Barbashev. They don’t have room for all them. Kyrou isn’t even their best prospect. He’s not even their second best prospect. So don’t tell me he’s untouchable. And we are doing Blues the favor of taking Allen off their hands. At $2.5M he would be a good backup to Andersen.

Schwartz/ Matthews/ Nylander
Hyman/ Tavares/ Marner
Johnsson/ Kerfoot/ Kyrou
Mikheyev/ Spezza / Bracco
*Gauthier
(Moore/ Brooks/ )
(Timashov/ SDR/ Marchment)

Reilly/ Ceci
Muzzin/ Barrie
Dermott/ Harpur
*Holl, Marincin, Gravel
(Sandin/ Liljegren)
(/ Hollowell)
(Borgman/ Duszak)
(/ Rasanen)

Andersen
*Allen
(Hutchinson)
(Woll)
(Scott)

I see where your going with it and it's a good suggestion. Oh issue I have is Kyrou for Kapanen. At the moment Kapanen is probably a much safer bet but the leafs are fairly deep at RW so if it doesn't work out start the revolving door and see what happens. Schwartz I don't really want. Not a fan of his. He had a horrendous year and may not rebound well. Seems like the Blues are getting the better of this trade as they get to dump a salary as well as get back Kapanen. Depends on how high you rate Kyrou really though.

Like Swartz but not enough to lose kappy and surely if the blues wanted Aberg they would have signed him themselves seeing he was a free age0nt a week ag0 barbasev is interesting so if fabbri I'm pretty sure we inquired about him last trade deadline too.

I would rather keep the signed kapanen and sir Pontus was a shrewd signing by Dubas he will pot 15 goals

The only good piece from the blues is kyrou and that is a potential if only
Schwartz is redundant piece on the current leaf roster and Allen is a waste of time. Sparks 2.0.

@stormer

I guess you missed the * where I explain why Aberg had to be included for cap purposes? It’s ok if Blues don’t want him, we need to dump salary back on them if we are taking Schwartz and Allen, so he can be replaced with any other depth plug making league minimum

@LeafLifr and mph

Maybe instead of Kyrou, how about Thomas then? I know he’s off to a slow staet to his career, but he can also play center, which has some attraction there as well.

Value wise I'm not going to argue. But the Leafs need certain players and Schwartz isn't the right kind. He can play through tough playoff hockey but in my opinion he doesn't make it tough to play.

Personally I'm a fan of Roope Hintz if I'm to provide an example. He big, physical, and provides cap help.

Kapanen for Hintz + 2nd.

LeafsGm I think I would prefer Thomas as the blues value him higher. Means they have to see something. I probably wouldn't either way considering the salary coming back as well. Prefer to keep kappy and see how he does but again depends how highly you value Thomas. Personally I'm really unsure about him at the moment. Slow start but doesn't mean alot.

Are you guys high. Lol what a joke and the fact that you believe it is hilarious. Trading Schwartz for kappy straight up is a no go. I love the fact that Thomas is considers off to a slow start. Kappy at 22 had 9 points in 40 games. At 23 he had 40 points in 78games. At 19 Thomas had 33 points in 70 and played with bozak and maroon. So if Thomas is off to a slow start does that make kappenan suck.

Stupid trade huge nogo.
