Leafs trade Muzzin
Dallas trades 1st, 2nd

Leafs trade 2x1st, 2nd
Philly trades Provorov

We trade Muzzin to a bubble team (I chose Dallas in this example) that could use Muzzin as a rental either for injury or to address a weakness on LHD, which is Leafs strong point.

Leafs then package that return with their own first next year, and look to bring in a RHD with good term left from a team that is rebuilding and has plenty of good defense to spare (I chose Philly, the Carolina and Anaheim come to mind quickly as well) .

In this way we upgrade from Muzzin, who is UFA and won’t be back, into a top 4 RHD on a multi-year contract.

Dermott + Zaitsev + Bracco for Manson + Ritchie

Nylander for Pesce + Gaulthier + Fleury

Leafs defense solid for the next three years

Muzzin. Pesce
Rosen marincin. Total Cost $18.6 MM
The top 4 defenseman can play 45 minutes
The Leafs by trading Nylander can bring back Hainsey for 2/ $3 MM.

LeafsGM, Provorov is LHD and I doubt the Flyers trade him for picks. He's still young enough to stay through a re-build. Plus I think you're over valuing one year of Muzzin, I don't think you'll get a first and second for that. At the TDL you could get a 1st for Muzzin if you moved him to a contender.

I know Provorov is LHD. He’s just so damn good though. I want him. Lol. I also know I am not paying enough here. I just wanted to throw out the idea to get discussion going. The whole concept of converting a pending UFA like Muzzin into a useable long term asset is what I was hoping the focus would be on.

The article I “borrowed” this concept from used Gardiner and brought us Pesce as the return player. I couldn’t use that trade exactly, so switched to Muzzin and Provorov.

Hard to say if Muzzin gets us a 1st + 2nd. Depends on how well he is doing more than anything. He is a top 50 defenseman after all. There are precedents that seem to indicate he could get that 2nd. But like I said, it depends on his performance next year.

You’ve read enough of my proposals Joe. You should know that I don’t always put up the best trade proposal itself if it’s the concept I want to focus on. I try to encourage discussion that way and get other guys to think about the idea and come up with their own suggestions. It’s not always about the trade.

You see the idea here though Joe. What do you think might work? Or is suggesting a Leaf trade go against your rules as a Jets fan? Lol.

Maybe we trade Muzzin to bubble team, for 1st. Then package 2x1st + for Trouba? Is that something Jets consider? I will let you suggest the + as you know Jets needs better than I do.

I think you're idea of adding a bit and trading up on Muzzin could work. I just doubt it would be for Provorov or a young D like him. He's just too young to give away on a deal like that. I think you'd need to target a 25 or 26 year old defenseman to made a swap like that.

As for a Trouba trade, we just don't make good trading partners. Anything extra you have to trade, we don't need and vise versa.
