Ok so here is my theory. Matthews if health you will get at least 40 goals playing with Nylander and Johnson. Nylander will most likely get 55 assists and 25 goals for 80 points. Or maybe he could crack 90 points. That line will arguably be more dangerous this year then the Tavares line with Marner. I've heard offering Marner more then 10 mill won't get him to accept so it is time to trade him so.

Leafs
Marner
Holl
2020 3rd

Canes
Teravainen
Pesce (20% retained)

We get a top 4 defensmen signed long term for about 4 mill with the cap retained by Carolina. If Teravainen plays with Tavares then his points totals will only go up and he got 76 points last year so that line will still be really dangerous. Marners going to want at least 10 so we save money as Pesce and Teravainen combined make a bit less then 10 mill.

Johnson Matthews Nylander
Hyman Tavares Teravainen
Mikheyev Kerfoot Kapanen
Moore Spezza Aberg/shore/ petan

Riley Pesce
Muzin Barrie
Dermott Ceci

Carolina shouldn't have to retain. I mean this deal is great for the leafs. I can't see carolina doing it but i really don't know anymore.

I would think toronto needs to add a prospect and pick but again i really don't know.

THATs what I was thinking. We have to add someone such as Robertson or timahov and maybe an extra 4th. But if Marner is getting traded this is the type of deal we need.

No chance in hell. Teravainen was a +30 with 76 pts and 21 goals signed until 23-24 at 5.4m. he isn't far off Marner skill and is half the cap hit. Canes don't have the space and don't want someone that costs that much. I proposed a werenski and Anderson for Marner and earlier and I personally believe that is the BEST we can hope for in a return now everyone knows Marner turned down some serious overpays.

I agree wih your points LeafsLife. Marner is good and greedy. teravainen is good and knows his market value.

Yes werenski and anderson seems like a good package but bringing that up in a carolina trade thread wasnt necessary and saying your trade proposal is the BEST the leafs can hope for in return for Marner is just another debatable topic.

Id take either offers and others I've read in last week at this point. just get it done and over with already dubas.

@Craigger it must have come out wrong.

My meaning was I'm not even sure if CBJ with ample cap space would give up what I proposed. It's more on the "I'm hoping and praying" side of things. My whole point is Marner is not worth what we all hoped at this point in the game. I'm not even sure most of the props I made or agreed with a month ago including Marner can be done at this point because he has absolutely imploded his own value in a lot of ways as opposed to where it was in June.

Yeah, something is off in Marners head. I mean it could all just be media driven BS but out of all media people Bob McKenzie i believe. He has never just made up stuff up for a story.

I didn't mind the 3 yr 31 million deal . AAV just over 10 million but year 3 worth 14 million for arbritration purposes. I mean its basically what werenski did just twice as much.

Now it was leaked he was offered over 11 and he said no. All along i thought marner asked for 11 and leafs said no. With this info i officially think marner is greedy and really hope bracco makes team gels with tavares and becomes a debrincat story but assists instead of goals.

If he won't sign and no deal is available let him sit or go to europe. Next year offer him a peanuts prove us you can still play deal. leafs own his right to play in the NHL not other way around.

There ya go now we agree Craigger lol. I'm not on board with a 3 year bridge. They MUST qualify year 4 at year 3s actually salary not aav. Means it might as well be a 4year deal at the same aav. I don't think anyone wants to make Marner the highest paid winger in history on a 3-5yr deal and that absolutely kills his trade value at this point I'm sure.

I don't think Bracco jumps up to 1st line straight away probably 3rd or 4th line and see how he does but I agree I would rather lose Marner than give him that. I read today (not sure about this) he turned down 8.5m on a 3 year bridge deal. If that's true I'm not sure what he wants beyond an exact Mathews deal and that shouldn't happen for a 26g scorer with sub 100 points no matter how great he looked last year and high his Ceiling is. Leaves no room for anyone else once Reilly needs signed.
