Heatdreamer. How are you today my friend? You’re bringing your A game today. With the exception of Zaitsev, I love every single one of those players you mentioned here, from all teams.

The Anaheim trade is a no-brainer if Murray could be convinced to make it. The snag there of course is that Anaheim has already traded away Montour for futures. So losing Manson would decimate the right side defense for them. Zaitsev is nowhere near an adequate replacement for Manson and doesn’t deserve top line duties beside Lindholm, and Liljegren, as much as I think he will turn out to be a star, isn’t ready for 1RHD yet either.

The Columbus trade looks good. Hate to lose a couple bangers like Kadri and Ritchie, but I like the incoming players.

Must Include Zaitsev in the deal to get Manson to balance out the trade.

Murray will have to call up Arizona to dump Zaitsev salary over the summer. That is his problem

Liljegren + Brown makes the team much younger. RHD, they can keep Zaitsev or trade him

We get three deep on RHD, and if Dermott asks for two much monies or Muzzin does, than there will be more trade bait with Rosen to step in.

Muzzin for three years at $5.5 MM two years from now is worth it.

Alternative Trade:

In the alternative trade Manson+ Ritchie for Kadri +Engvall

Than trade Brown+ Ritchie+ Zaitsev + for Anderson+ Savard.

Not bad at all but a challenge. Bring the team in at $80m. I am a firm believer in having a cushion if they need to make a move.

Like the trades though.

Why trade Ritchie? I like the trade for Anderson but the money seems to tight but moving forward that’s the way it is so all is good.

Kadri I agree with your comments especially if he had a monster playoffs his value will be no higher than this summer. So say if his performance is great in the playoffs then I would ask for
Kadri = Anderson + not the other way around. The d kid you picked had 15 points and is Minus 4 in 63 games.

Too me and I’m no expert but Kadri multiple 30 goal slayer for the ducks trade works after that the Columbus Trade would have to get very creative. Cap space will be a commodity we don’t have this summer. IMO it’s a situation where it’s one trade or the other and we won’t be able to fit both under the cap unless we get rid of a Kappanen, Johnsson and brown then their would be enough cash. Kinda crazy when you think of it.

Valiant effort LeafsGM, but still $500 k over and you forgot to account for Horton's contract. Signing all their FA's and putting together a roster will be quite a challenge for Dubas and Prindholm. Agree with Jodes that a better number to shoot for is $80M to leave some "wiggle" room. Also, this is a 20 man roster, no 7th D or extra forwards in case of illness or injury. Since you did not break down the salaries have to deduce the contracts of the RFA and FA signings.

Oh btw Muzzin @ 5.5/ per year is brutal he’ll be too old to devserve that type of contract.

@spider

It was a valiant effort, but I don’t deserve the credit. Heatdreamer was the gentleman who posted this proposal.

It really was a valiant effort and not a whole lot to nitpick when dissecting this proposal.

A few suggestions to make this better, but all in all was a good attempt at a fairly elaborate proposal involving so many moving pieces among different teams and taking account a fair amount of estimation in terms of salaries and contracts given to Kapanen, Johnsson, and Marner, in particular.

Very good basis for a deep team analysis and after a couple tweaks, could look like a professional assessment almost. Lol.

Definitely one of the better efforts at being full thorough as possible I’ve seen since maybe Jodes last posted something like this. (His went 5 years out though, so to be fair, Jodes was a little more elaborate) .

My bad, brain fart. Thanks for setting the record straight leafsGM. My kudos to you heatdreamer. Good proposal. I will post my own shortly for everyone to dissect. It may be a little lengthy but read all the way through thoroughly then have at it. Enjoy seeing all the different ideas here. Hey "mac". haven't seen much from you lately, busy soaking up the sunshine?

Jodes, Spidey, and GM,

I utilized Ritchie to enhance the return for Kadri, I also feel that a draft pick should come back from Columbus.

To reduce the salary cap from $83.5 MM, the simplest solution is Keep Sparks and jettison Miller- Savings $1.1 MM

Reduce Kapanen and Johnsson's salaries from $6.8 MM total to $5.5 MM- Savings of $1.3 MM.

This reduces the total salaries to $81.4 MM, still prefer a better backup goal-tending.

Instead of Hainsey keep Ohziganov and the total salaries drop by .5 MM to $Eighty . 9 MM.
