Can someone please tell me why the leafs don't do this deal or at least something along these lines
Leafs
Gardiner
Bracco
2019 3rd
Ducks
Montour
Ritchie
2020 4th
First off montour and Ritchie's contracts only add up to about 5 million which might be a bit less then what gardiner wants. We get rid of a defensmen who likes to turn the puck over and we get a good solid promising young right handed defensmen. We loose a good prospect but help out our top 9 tremendously. Here is what I see the lines for next year/ after trade deadline
Leafs
Brown
Hainsey
Sandin
2019 1st
2020 2nd
Flyers
Simmonds
Gudas
Kapanen Matthews Nylander
Johnson Tavares Marner
Ritchie Kadri Simmonds
Ennis Lindholm Hyman
Riley Montour
Zaitsev Gudas
Dermott Ozhiganov
Andersen
Sparks
That's how we win a cup, improve our team and help with our cap

Aniheim passes on first deal as does philly
Any team that deals a young controllable good dman will not want a upcoming ufa back. They will want young contollable assets back
Any team trying to unload upcomng ufas will want pick and prospects back.
Good targets though.

Because the Ducks would say no. Gardiner is a UFA. So your giving Bracco and a 3rd for Montour, Ritchie and a 4th? Not even close.
The other trade is No good for the leafs either. Simmonds is a UFA and won't be resigned for cap reasons. And your giving up arguably our best D prospect, two good draft picks and two contributing pieces this year. Nothing wrong with Hainsey and Brown. So all this for Gudas.
The leafs have roughly 5 mil to spend at the trade deadline this year, Don't expect anything too crazy will happen. Last I looked, the leafs are looking pretty good.

It’s almost like what you offered in the first deal should have been offered in the second deal, and vice versa. lol.
