@ Thatguy.... If you look at who is being exchanged for who in the trade and break it down I think you will see the flaws in it. Maybe write it down in that manner then look hard at it for a while and you will see.

This might actually be the worst proposal I’ve ever seen. My good God... dude. lol I don’t even know where to start. This is awful.

I see we get a younger cheaper center locked in for 8 more years. (Let's not forget Matthews may not resign and just walk).

I also see us dumping Morgan's contract and getting a #1 LD that is only 28.

I also see us getting Iginlia who is young and promising.

I also see that nobody gave a counter offer of what to add or take away.



These must be the same people who told me years ago when I mentioned a trade for Matthews to land MacKinnon straight up and they said I was nuts back then only because they wanted to keep Matthews lol.

I felt pretty good with that offer as I still do with this one.

I actually don't hate this trade. Cooley is going to be a point a game player, Sergachev is a beast and both those guys are locked up for years to come. Also makes us younger with cost certainty. And then Tig Iginla is going to be a solid winger for a long time.

Outside of Matthews going the other way (who, like you said, might not re-sign in 2 years or want 20M per season) this trade is decent enough.
I would just try it without adding Danford in it.
