Back to the Dallas cap problems, here's one... Would you do this?

To Dallas:
1st overall pick
William Nylander

To Toronto:
Wyatt Johnston
Tomas Harley

Dallas gets their cap flexibility in to sign their RFAs and still get two solid pieces back.
Toronto gets a pick moving defenseman locked up for 8 more years and a good center. Both are 24 years old and signed.

Neither one of those guys is worth the 1st overall pick in the draft plus Nylander. U high.

Am I high? Are you high?
Wyatt Johnston is already better than Nylander and 6 years younger and makes 4M less per year. The guy has 45 goals and 86 points last year and plays center. Nylander floats, can't defend at all and doesn't take coaching direction in any way.

And Harley is a 24 year old pick moving defenseman just about to start an 8 year extension.
As much as McKenna could be an amazing future star, we get immediate help next season and for the next 6-8 years with these two guys. What is McKenna turns into a Lafreniere or a nail Yakupov? For me, I take this trade.

I would do that trade. Wyatt Johnston has not even hit his ceiling yet and neither has Harley and they are both players that multiple teams tried to no avail to pry loose from Dallas at the deadline not as a pair but in separate deals, because they knew Dallas was going to be in cash crunch. In Fairness to Dallas they would have be foolish to trade anyone with that lineup until the offseason. They just got out goaltended once again in the playoffs. It happens. Johnston and Harley would change the look of the Leafs immensely.
