More trade ideas
Toronto then acquires a 3rd-line center, Jesperi Kotkaniemi, and gives up Dakota Joshua, Simon Benoit, and a 2026 2nd-round pick in the deal.

Without the 2nd-round pick, Kotkaniemi doesn't move. His father would definitely be excited about this move.

There are also rumors from the KHL, and some of Toronto's scouts have been watching several players there. My friend is also keeping an eye on things over there.

Happy Sunday everyone.

No, No and Triple No on Kotkeniemi. I hate players who criticize their coach and management in the media. There is a reason he is a healthy scratch in the playoffs and for a lot of the season. So what are the KHL rumours? Is your friend the scout over there now scouting as well?

Great rumour on Kotkaniemi. The guy is garbage and so is his cap hit. We are trying to get better, not s***. Terrible offer, a definite No for the Leafs. Let’s see some actual realistic rumours or trade ideas.

@ LeafsGM78, You think it is fine for a player to criticize his coach in the media because you are being sat out?

Yup, I think you can be frustrated with a situation and they’re all adults. Coaches call out players so who’s to say it can’t be reversed.

I totally disagree. If you are playing well or are a Star maybe and only maybe do you call out the coach. But when you are playing totally like crap and being sat out you don't call out the coach especially when your team has the best record in the Eastern Conference. By doing that he also has ticked off the GM not just the coach. Because by doing that he just put up a red flag for other teams and any possible trade return has diminished by quite a bit.

If I was the GM in Carolina I would say to Rod Brindamour "Sit him out as long as you want! We will squeeze him under the cap and we won't put him on Waivers. If he wants to play he can go to Europe then his contract is suspended and he is off our Salary Cap."

That is how a young entitled player learns to be professional. You would think his father would with his background in hockey in coaching and as a current Leaf coach would have told him to keep quiet.
