Toronto receives, Jake Furlong and a 3rd-round pick
Chicago receives: Anthony Stolarz

Toronto adds a young defensive prospect in Furlong along with a mid-round pick, while Chicago gets an NHL-ready goalie in Stolarzz who can immediately help stabilize their goaltending depth.

Feels like a reasonable hockey trade where Chicago gets stability in net, and Toronto adds a future piece plus a draft asset.

If Tanev gets healthy, a Furlong, Tanev third pairing could be pretty interesting. Furlong would handle the puck-moving side and good hockey iq, good first pass, PP2, while Tanev provides the defensive stability and insurance.
And it would also add more offensive upside to the third pairing with Jake Furlong. There’s still work to do in his defensive game, and he’s not particularly physical.

First off. The way things are with Stolarz, one of the few teams in the NHL who might take him as a single player in a trade from Toronto would be Florida because of their history with him. Might be one or two others, but most trades involving him will be his as a throw in with us getting rid of cap and hoping his throw in gets us whoever we are after with other parts we are trading.



The thing that really gets me is that you are trying to get Furlong and already you have him pencilled in with Tanev? What about our own Noah Chadwick, who had a better season than Furlong?

Chadwick play NHL maby season 2028+2029 so... Not yet next season.

Little less 40 games I see when Marlies play. Next season it's not Chadwick time to NHL yet.

Stolarz has to go because Hildeby will have to be put on waivers to be sent down to the AHL next season.
The Leafs will have the choice of putting Hildeby on waivers and immediately losing him or be forced to carry 3 goaltenders.
