Leafs trade 2nd, Brooks
Carolina trades Williams

I went through team by team and looked for any UFA’s of note. Very few. What stands out to me though is the lack of defensemen. Their just isn’t any. We are saturated at forward. I can’t really see the benefit of trading futures away for forward rental. And their are no rental defensemen available. So my guess is we go into the playoffs with pretty much the same team we have now. We have a little bit of cap space left after signing Nylander. We can probably add a body or two to give depth and for injury replacement.

Hey don't forget that at Feb deadline 75% of season is gone. That means the remaining cap hit is 25% of salary. $5m in space can get us $20m in players. Plenty of room.

Lol I'm sorry I shouldn't dick around

As far as I know, teams obviously only pay in actual money what is owed. The cap side I believe the receiving team pays full pop

Not sure if I agree with that but I'm sure there is a good reason. Makes sense to me that if u have them 25% of season u pay 25% of cap hit but what the he. do I know.

You had me going there Jodes. Lol. Yes, you’re right. Actual monies being paid by the receiving team is total balance remaining for the year. The cap hit is tranferred in its entirety and applied against any remaining balance. It’s to prevent teams like Leafs or others from circumventing the cap by bringing in a truckload of megastars from non-playoff teams.

You really had me going though. Lol. That was a good one.
