Leafs trade Josh Leivo, Calle Rosen, 4th round pick

Oilers trade Jujhar Khaira

Rosen can play third pair to replace the injured Sekera, and after his run on the Marlies he could turn out to be a steal for them. Leivo gets the change of scenery he so badly needs, and could move up and down Edmonton's lineup as a scoring winger.

Khaira joins the competition for 4C and has shown some grit and scoring ability. He was counted on for a lot of D zone starts in Edmonton and seems like a natural Babcock 4C. With his versaility and ability to score, he also insulates the team against injury along the left wing.

This is a small bottom-roster move that seems like the sort of thing the Leafs might pull the trigger on right before training camp. I wanted to include Pickard in this trade, but Edmonton gave 2.5M to Koskinen to be their backup - I don't see them having any interest in Pickard.

It’s depth moves like this that wins cups. Would love to have Khaira in the team, and if Edmonton makes him available for the right price, Leafs should consider it. They can do a lot worse than pursue Khaira.
