Trading the two veterans gets rid of bad contracts and old age. I think that along with these two who might have 2-3 years left, leivo and the draft picks it should get the trade done. Nashville doesn't need picks because they are now focused on the cup and marleau could be what they need on the second/third line to help them. Give it a year or two and Grundstrom will be ready for the NHL and it clears space for the big three. I also think dermott is better then hainsey and can fullfill the role as a top 4 d
lilegrenn will defentley be ready by then and carrick is a very solid defensive player. we fill in the holes while clearing some cap

Why does everyone want to trade patty they brought him in for a reason and he still got 25 goals his a vet leader and the kids love him they can make the cap work. In a cap world there will always be cap concerns. But what we really need is for some one to say I’ll take less money and let’s build somthjng special. Jt was offered more money else where he wanted to do somthing special and left money on the table. If mattews marner nylander want to go down in history as something special in Toronto then they will all lead money on the table as well go bigger on your next contract when your 28 win a few cups between now and then and go to the highest bidder later.

Why would you think that A) Just because Marleau and Hainsey are old means they suck? B) They have bad contracts?

Leafs got exactly what they paid for and more out of both these veterans, who did a remarkable job on their new team leading the kids and demonstrating class both on and off the ice. Trading either of them would be a big mistake.
