I'm telling you all, Pesce is the guy to get, he is young, locked up for a long time, he is big, and he is a great defensive player to play with Reilly

To Carolina:
2020 2nd, Leivo, Sparks, Bracco, Borgman
To Leafs:
Pesce, 2019 3rd

Now we a a RD to play with Reilly, if Kyle Dubas and Babcock can trust Zaitsev enough to keep him then we trade for the guy who is the biggest name on the block right now, Panarin, who gave Columbus until early September to make their decision on to give him a short term contract or he would want to be traded, which would be a perfect time for the leafs because they will have locked up Nylander and know what their cap space is like
To Columbus:
Gardiner, Korshkov, 2019 3rd (ours), if need be another prospect (Durzi or Timashov or something, depending on the offers from other clubs)
To Leafs:
Panarin
Both teams could use their new editions, Panarin as a top LW to help with Toronto's left side, which is the only weak point on the offence, and Gardiner to help Columbus have a more skilled defensive lineup and someone who may be more willing to sign long term for less $ then Panarin would want, which would also help them re-sign Bobrovsky
Then we need someone to replace Gardiner, we have Hainsey but he is getting old I don't think him and Zaitsev would fit
Dermott is another option, but I still think he is too young and inexperienced to move up, especially since he has yet to play a full season in the NHL
So it comes down to this, who is a solid top 4 LHD that we can trade for and that will fit under the cap, the answer is Brodin
To Minnesota:
2019 1st, Sandin, Carrick, 2019 4th
To Leafs:
Brodin, 2019 2nd, 2020 2nd
I know I have suggested these trades, but look what they do, worst case scenario on defence is Zaitsev has another bad year and we trade him for cap space in the summer and if space is an issue this year we trade Hainsey and use Ozhiganov on the right side of our top 6d and Holl in the press box, with our d depth I don't think that's a problem
Lines:
Panarin/Tavares/Marner
Marleau/Matthews/Nylander
Johnsson/Kadri/Kapanen
Hyman/Lindholm/Brown
*Ennis, Jooris
Reilly/Pesce
Brodin/Zaitsev
Dermott/Haisey(unless cap is an issue)
*Ozhiganov
Anderson
Mcbackup
The haisey trade would be to a playoff hopeful to get a 2019 4th to replace our lost one, we throw in a low level prospect (Gautier) if we have to
I know you also may be thinking, "well with Sparks gone who replaces Mclheiny next year?" I just want to say that the goalie FA is huge next year and there are many goalies the leafs can pick up, they can even resign Pickard if he has a good year in the minors, and who can come up if Mclheiny doesn't look very good this year or if he gets hurt
Another possibility is signing Mason, but I don't think we will have the space and I'm sure all of us want to stay as far away from him as possible if we can
Cmon this is at least half decent, especially with all of my explanation, and it will likely fit under the cap so...... ya
Oh and one thing that I forgot to mention is that leafs don't have to re-sign Panarin, or they could trade Horton and Marleau to the sharks during the draft to keep him, ya, bet u didn't see that coming, anyway even if he does walk then he gets to choose where he wants to go so it's a win-win for him

Actually take out the 2020 2nd in the Minnesota trade, if anything ask for a third or lower but a second is too much.

That is a laughable offer for Pesce.

The only thing I can see is taking out Borgman OR Bracco in that trade
Leivo is top 9 forward
Borgman is depth/ 7th defencemen who will get better and will be top 6
A late second rounder
A backup and possibly fringe starter goalie
Then take out Borgman if they say no and throw in Bracco, then both if they still say no but we need a little more
It’s perfect for a young top 4 potential big defensive defencemen.

All the explanation doesn’t make the trades any better.

In the Columbus trade, I wouldn’t be offering up our pick. You should be offering the Carolina pick and retain ours in case Leafs decide to offer sheet someone. We need our own picks.

I’m not even going to bother with the rest. You’ve said enough already.

Leafs GM, the Panarin trade won’t happen until like September or October if he hasn’t come to terms with Columbus, I don’t think their will be anybody left to give an offer sheet, and I dought they will anyway.
