Have to agree with some others here that in-spite of some relatively good regular season results I have noticed some holes in Freedy's style/game, that I think, if other teams catch on, will see a demise in his effectiveness. Also, he has not been very effective in the past two post seasons. As much as everyone has jumped on Gardiner, a couple of key saves(ala MAF) could have turned game seven around. Therefore I suggest trading him while his value is high. He provide a nice pairing with McIhenney that could provide a nice package to a team deperate for top goal tending and a good back up ... the Flames.

Leafs: Anderson, McIhinney, 2018 2nd.
Flames: Hamilton, Smith.
Smith is strictly a cap dump for the Flames. The Leafs then flip him back to the Yotes where he was a fan and team favorite.

Leafs: Smith, Zaitsev.
Yotes: Demers, 2018 3rd.
Leafs roll with an improved defence and the AHL top goalie and top net pairing this season. Sign both Sparks and Picard to 1Mx2Y contracts and hope for a Hellybuck gem in the rough.

This has to be the worst proposal I've seen on here in a really long time. You're going to trade away one of the best goaltenders in the world right now because he didn't have a "great" postseason? So you trade him away and "hope" that we find a gem in sparks of pickard? How does that make any sense to you whatsoever? What happens if they don't turn out? We're just going to wait 5 years until Woll is ready for the big leagues? Do you understand how important a number one goalie is? And how extremely hard they are to acquire? This is brutal.

There’s a big difference between the AHL and the NHL. Sparks had his chance, he blew it.

It took years of bad goaltending before we got Andersson. It’s pretty hard to put the series loss entirely on him. The whole team underperformed.

Would rather keep Andersen and McBackup than to try and ride two AHL goalies.
