That Nylander trade is interesting. Not too sure what you are seeing in those guys coming our way that I’m not. Murray is a bust, and Jenner is a third line center at best.

What exactly are your thoughts here? Because I’m having a hard time figuring out why anyone would propose this.

Usually I sign in to this page for a laugh as so many of the suggested trades seem ridiculous. That said I like both of these trades.
What is so often missed/ forgotten is that a trade must work for both teams and that most GMs are not stupid (Chiarelli? ) . Both of these suggestions appear to benefit both teams though the Leaf - CBJs trade seems a little weighted to the Leafs favor.

Regarding the Tavares trade proposal, it is quite simple. Trade for exclusive negotiating rights, sign the player to an 8-yr max deal instead of 7-yr, allocate available cap money towards upgrading the defence.

Tavares will come to the Leafs for nothing in free agency IF he wants to come here. The 8th year is really irrelevant. Those assets you traded away needlessly could be used in a trade to both free up cap space AND acquire defensive help.

So glad we didn’t go after him last year like some suggested

Probably same people who said not to put Martin in vs Boston, or that Gardiner can skate (or see)
