I think Leafs are going to play cautious when it comes to the big name UFA’s. While the thought of landing a fish liked karlsson or Doughty is a dream to leafland, the fact remains that leafs are not going to gamble by trading for a pending UFA. Either expect them to try and sign Karlsson outright or pass on his services altogether. Leafs are probably not going to mortgage a large part of their future only to get a year or less of service from someone who has made it clear he plans to sign to highest bidder.
