To Tor: Barrie

To col: jvr, conditional pick

To tor: Nash

To nyr: Leivo , Bracco , 2nd

This works nicely for the leafs they get a top 4 defender then go and get a better 2 way player in Nash to replace jvr Colorado gets a top winger to play with Mack and rangers get a good roster player a top prospect and a pick I think it's fair all around

It will take more than that to get Barrie, also, Colorado already has a LW to play with Mack (Landy) . I wouldn't mind seeing Nash on the leafs but that is a lot to give up for a rental who won't be enough to bring us a cup this year.

I agree but the way I look at it is even if Nash doesn’t resign it makes room for players to come up
From the Marlies and who else do the leafs offer for Barrie.

I respectfully disagree with the idea of this offer being too much for Nash. Leivo has little value, Bracco is a legit prospect to offer up, and the 2nd will fall somewhere around the 45th-55th range. In fact, with the Rangers willing to eat salary, there’s no way they accept this from the Leafs.

I agree that it will be good to give room for guys to move up but i'd rather see us get something more sustainable if we are going to be giving up picks and prospects. That is a lot to give up for a guy who will be playing 20 reg season games and maybe 6 playoff games for us because we definitely do not have the money to sign nash in the offseason. As far as getting Barrie, we will need to offer a couple prospects or picks with that deal to land him or possibly Gardiner over JVR? I am not really sure.

Totally agree. My point wasn’t to argue toward picking up Nash as he simply isn’t a fit, only that IF there was interest from the Leafs that it would require more of a payoff on NY’s side to make the deal. As far as Barrie goes, I think you’re on the right track starting with Gardiner as they’d likely want a replacement body on the backend.

Why are we talking about this?

A) leafs are not in the mix for him

B) don’t want him, not needed in anyway

C) David Mackin for president.

No need for more elder; relatively speaking of course. Leafs are playing very good hockey, are they contending for the cup; yep, but probably won't be playing in the final round for it? Still, plenty of hockey left and then theirs the June draft with potential deals/ swaps and then there's July.

This year is fun and great next should be at least as fun and exciting to watch and follow.

Leafs are fine. Not looking to make instant gratification moves/ deals. Cup run next year more likely. Enjoy Leaf hockey, it's enjoyable, gratifying and yes, fun to watch and read about too.
Cheers.
