The Leafs need to draft D - C. Foote, and if not D - C. Timmins. Central Scouting has Foote ranked 12th among NA skaters. There are about 6 or 7 European skaters that could go ahead of him as well.

With the Leafs picking 18th, they may need to trade up a few picks to ensure they get Foote, or stay put and draft him if available or Timmins.

To TOR: Picks 15 + 77

To NYI: Picks 18 + 53 (SJ)

A swap of a 2nd for a 3rd to move up 3 spots. Similar to the price paid for Winnipeg to move up last year.

Only make trade if Foote is on the board at 15

Connor Timmins will be a bust. If Foote, Valimaki are on the board, or if Liljigren slips (Chychrun like) then pull the trigger. If the leafs are eliminated though, don't they have a higher pick than the rangers seeing as we had less points?

FYI! Draft position of playoff teams are not set yet. Draft position is determined by regular season points AND playoff performance. Example: if the Leafs are eliminated in the first round, they would be drafting 16th (lowest regular season points total of teams eliminated in the 1st rnd) . If the Leafs go on and win the cup (perfect 100th anniversary celebration) they would draft 31st. I'm ok with drafting 31st and going for Brooks or trading up for Foote.

Connor Timmins is a bust? He's tied for 5th in scoring for Dmen in the draft.

He's moved up on two lists to 18 and 19 (McKeens and NHL Central) from being off those lists originally. Even ISS has him in the top 30. Only Future Considerations has him in the 2nd round at 36.

Yeah. Some bust he is.
