The following D-men are likely to be left exposed by their respective teams and are great targets for trades.

Pulock
Oleksiak
Schultz
Trouba

The best things the Leafs can do is trade players to these teams that don't need to be protected, ie young prospects.

To WNG: D - T. Dermott + 2017 2nd round pick

To TOR: D - J. Trouba

or

To NYI: F - T. Lindberg + 2017 4th round pick

To TOR: D - R. Pulock

these are the types of deals the Leafs should be targeting in the offseason.

These are all players that the teams would likely lose for nothing in the expansion draft, so I would say the cost would come down significantly, No?

With Trouba now labeled a "mal-content", that deal is acceptable.

I would do the 2nd deal in a flash; but I think the Islanders would want more. Maybe change the pick to our last 2nd.
