Leafs: Kucherov (RFA), 2017 3rd, 2018 6th
TBL: JVR (1 mil retained), Leipsic

Both are good for about 30 goals and 60 points. Leafs get 5 years younger, TBL gets cheaper (Kucherov will command more than $4.25) + a cheap option to slide into their bottom 6.

Would never go down, but I like the trade value on both ends.

Why would the Leafs retain money on JVR's deal when he has such a cap friendly contract?

To further sweeten the deal for Tampa, 1 mill more per year for Toronto isn`t a big deal for two years. For Tampa that could allow them to keep an extra player.
