Stamkos staying in Tampa or going to cup contender no Canadian team is an option for him all the Canadian teams rebuilding or van no one nod what there doing.

Stammer will be a LEAF within the next 2 weeks. 7 yrs for 9.1 mill/yr.

He has always known he wanted to come home and Captain this team.I think he's just played the game this year saying all the right things but he's always known he wouldn't re-sign with Tampa (IMO).

So KellyRyan you know him do you? No you don't. you have no idea what he wants to do. Seems you are calling him a liar then, as he has said he DOES want to stay in Tampa if things can be worked out. Tampa is his first choice. If they offer him anything over 9 million per for 8 years he stays. if not he goes, and maybe not to Toronto.

Every players says?"My first choice is to remain" What this REALLY means is, if they are willing to pay me what I will get on the open market, I will sign! No one will come out and say "I want to hit UFA and leave" That's absolutely absurd to say!

he has said he loves in there and wants to finish what he started. so no shit Sherlock, if they pay him what he's worth he'll stay. If not he won't . his preference is to stay but he realizes it's a business. if Tampa can pay him he stays. Players who want to leave generally say "we'll see what happens", or "I'll let my agent take care of that". what makes you think Stamkos'first choice would be the Leafs. you have no idea what he's thinking. he wants to be paid what's fair, but he also wants to win.

Yzerman has hinted that all he can afford for Stamkos is 8.5 million per year according to Darren Dreger, who knows more than all the wanna be GMs in here. That won't get it done for Stamkos, which makes him available. He already knows what the Leafs have to offer to a large extent. he'll get Toews type money. 10 million per year from someone. Stamkos knows what he's "worth" and he'll get it. I'm sure he has thought it out. "if I can't stay in Tampa I wanna go here, if not then here". and so on. Don't be so sure that the Leafs are his first choice after Tampa.
