Here me out.

Toronto 17th Overall, Datsyuk.

Detroit Bozak, 27th Overall.

With Datsyuk gone and possibly Richards they would be looking fairly weak at C. They would also be stuck with Datsyuk's 7.5M contract.

Bozak ain't a superstar or a 1st liner but a decent 2nd line guy. Averaged 50 PTS/ 82games last two seasons and is a good face off guy. With Matthews likely on the way and other young guys Bozak just doesn't fit in anymore. Leafs send him to a division rival and takes on Datsyuk's contract in result to move up 10 spots in the draft.

No way not worth taking on that contract just to pick 17th. Concentrate getting in the top ten.

Bozak moves us up that far then we still have to take Datsyuk? Also without Datsyuk's contract Detroit can afford a much needed 1c for next year in Stamkos
