Don't care for Ekblad. Damaged goods as a player. Concussions are a difficult thing to manage. One more significant hit could halt his career. No thanks from Toronto.

ON the JVR Subject I like the Shea Theodore part but I would want Max Jones as well. JVR is a Left winger and he would look good on that top line in Anaheim ( put them over the top) What do you think?

Do you really want to take a risky chance on a 7.5 M contract? If he can't play, that's a large cap to be stuck with.
I agree with jackel; getting Max Jones would be a good add. Good, aggressive power forward that can score some. Give up maybe Kapanen for him.
Carlsson got a first name? (Try typing Carlsson into a search engine like EP). You will get half of Sweden listed.

Draisaitl is doing average for a 3rd year average player at 16 pts. There are 4 rookies beating him right now. And given progression, Willi and Vessey will be soon as well.
Giving up two vets and a prospect for such an average players is GM suicide.
I understand he's loved in Edmonton; but in the rest of the continent he's "meh". Gardiner is way too much of an over payment. Just Leo and timo and then it's ok. Peter would love Leo for a few years.

1) Oh hell yes! But the Ducks might not.
2) JVR is worth more than Hamonic who is outside the age range of players we want coming in. Not by much though, and he is cheap. And you want to give them Carrick who will be ready for the #6 D position by the end of the year.
Note: It makes you wonder what the Oilers were thinking when the Devils got Larson. Hamonic is a better Dman than Larson (at least for now). He is cheap for a veteran D and he is right side. How good would Hall look on the Isles who lost Okposo to greed.

Why give away a bunch of young guys before seeing how good they are? I remember a trade similar to this. Except it was Owen Nolan and we sent Boyes and colaiacovo. Boyes ended up putting in a few good years before coming home to Toronto. Colaiacovo played well enough we could have kept him and not gotten Nolan.

Any 2 of the 4 names I mentioned plus the draft pick. make it a 3rd rounder instead. the d prospect fits the plan. with neilsen and dermott coming as well. the polaks are just fillers until the young lads come in a year or two. and no I don't drink or do drugs. thx for asking though.
