Solid proposal! If Parenteau can fetch a bottom 2nd round pick, then picking up a bottom 1st while taking on a bad contract is good for both teams.

The Leafs can still send Polak for a bottom 2nd round pick elsewhere and thus now walk into the draft with 14 picks (assuming no other trades)

With those picks, I can't imagine Toronto actually picking 14 players, so they will be liking trading up with some of their extra picks to likely be picking 7 or 8 times in the top 60! Should be a great draft!

Let's just assume that the above trade was completed. What I would like the Leafs to do with all those picks is trade with Minnesota to get their first. They are down their 2nd, 3rd and 5th at this years draft. If we offer Chicagos first, SJs 2017 2nd, and NJ's 3rd, the Leafs could move up to say the 12th spot and draft Tyson Jost. I think that kid does not get discussed enough because he is in the BCHL but he has star material written all over him. That would still give us Pittsburghs 1st to draft fabbro or McAvoy
