The drop off between marner to Teräväinen may not be enough to counter act the drop off in slavin to Ceci but I think it's pretty close. We may need to add. Thoughts?

JI think we may need to add quite a bit. Like Dermott or Sandin. The difference between Slavin and Ceci is quite large. Especially when you take contracts into consideration. Both Teravainen and Slavin are signed 5 years to very team friendly contracts. That adds to their value quite a bit. I mean, $5.4 for Teravainen. That’s ridiculous. Considering Marner is going to be $11. And Ceci is $4.5, which is only about $1M less than Slavin. Ceci is grossly overpaid pending UFA, while Slavin is an underpaid stud 1LHD that is only a tier below Rielly’s level.
Once you factor in all the things that don’t appear on the stat sheets, Leafs need to add quite a bit before Carolina say yes.

it appears to me that this is a possibility that would suit both teams in some ways. The team friendly deals of Teräväinen and Slavin will help Leafs keep costs down so they can re-sign Reilly no problem in three years, while using any extra money at deadline to buy a rental for playoffs. And Carolina gets Marner. A true elite megasuperstar who could really give Aho’s numbers a boost, and take Carolina to the next level.

Teravainen in the same situation as Marner had last year would probably be just about on par with Marner. I know we all love Marner but he hasn't proven much yet beyond top line minutes, top power playimutes and Tavares gets him an extra 30 points. Leafs would need to add a lot to get teravainen AND slaving for Marner. Especially considering both have around the same cap hit as Marner alone and your dumping a rental bottom 4 D on them.

If any trade talks with carolina has to involve pesce. How bout pesce, aho and a 1st for marner dermott gauthier and a 2nd?
