I doubt Ottawa trades Brannstrom after they gave up Stone for him.

As for the second trade don't think Vatanen is the guy the leafs should be targeting. There are much better and cheaper options out there. Zacha however could use a fresh start.

Leafs can't afford Karlsson, I'm sorry.

I think if we trade off Kadri, Nylander, Zaitsev, we can afford Karlsson, though to be honest, I’m not so sure how much I would want him. He’s starting to look injury prone, and never really did return to form after that first major injury to his foot. Not looking so hot in the playoffs here either.

Brannstrom was the best offer Ottawa received for Stone is why they accepted it. Ottawa lost a lot of offense this year: Stone, Duchene, Hoffman, Dzingle, and even Karlsson. They might be wanting to replace some of that scoring with a proven player like Nylander, rather than wait for Brannstrom to develop, if he ever does even make it to nhl.

Vatanen, like Karlsson, injury didn’t help his play any last year. He’s only got one year left on his contract, so is only a plug for now until we get Liljegren going.

Zacha is the main target here. I really think he would work out much better playing Leafs offensive system. Once Jersey drafts Hughes, and they already have Hirschier, I can see them making Zacha available.
