Leafs: Liljegren, Moore, 2nd 2020
Avalanche: Makar

Imo Liljegren is not at Makars level, I would say he is somewhat close but Makar is a rare breed so we give them a speedy forward and a 2nd to add on.

Leafs: Brown, Zaitsev, 2nd, Korshkov
Canes: Pesce

Just a rough estimate without giving up J or K. Obviously we add.

Next year:

Rielly-Pesce
Muzzin-Makar
Dermott-Sandin

I would say top 5 defense in the league. Also rings in at 15.7 mil

I agree - Makar is better. For that reason Avs keep him. He’s in their plans.

Ya I would say the Avalanche would rather keep Makar unless they are getting a proven defenceman in return. Although Liljgren is getting close, he isn't there yet.

And ya the leafs need to definetly add in the Carolina deal.

Korshkov hasn’t played all year. Pretty serious injury. I have a hard time seeing him get thrown-in on any trades.

Is Makar really that much better than Liljegren? They are ranked so closely it’s very difficult to say who is really going to be the better nhl player. At this point, I think it has more to do with development. And Liljegren has been playing at a much higher compete level in the AHL than Makar has in NCAA, and will likely see NHL time next year, while Makar returns to school for one last year to finish his education.

At this point, I think Leafs should stick with Liljegren rather than give up more assets to possibly get an upgrade in Makar. As much as I think Makar will be an impact 1RHD and potential Norris candidate one day, I can just as easily see Liljegren in the same franchise player category as well.

Fair points LeafsGM.

It really is too hard to tell but Makar had more hype at the draft. We have Sandin up and coming RHD with lily pad at LHD so it will be fun to see how our Swedes do and if they move up together.
