So I seen a trade earlier that got me thinking it was with Colorado so I've decided to take a stab at it with my own twist.

Tor gets
Makinnon C
Makar D
Ottawa's 1st round pick

Colorado gets
Mathews C
Gardner D
Lindgren D
Toronto's 3rd round pick 2019

Tor gets
Ritchie LW
Slivefberg LW/RW
Lindholm D

Ducks get
Marleau LW 2 million retained ntc has to be waived.
Marincin D
Holl D
Brown RW
Durzi D
Aaltonen C
Toronto's 1st round pick 2019

Tor gets
Kassian RW

Edmonton gets
Ennis RW/LW
Jooris C

Toronto's Forward lines
Hymn/Makinnon/Marner
Johnsson/Tavares/Kadri
Ritchie/Nylander/Kapanen
Lindholm/Gauthier/Slivferberg
Kassian

Toronto's Defensive lines
Riley/Lindholm
Dermot/Zaitsev
Ozhiganov/Hainsey
Rosen

Next years defense
Riley/Lindholm
Dermot/Zaitsev
Sadin/Liljegren
Rosen/Borgman
Makar
Plus whatever the Ottawa's first round pick could possibly bring Jack Hughes C

This is more about the future and the money saved by trading Mathews also allows Toronto to stretch their money and keep just about everyone.

So your Colorado trade

1. They would get Matthews who will make btwn 12-14 AAV going forward yet they MacKinnon making half 6.3. MacKinnon also elite like AM.

2. Colorado would trade former 1st rounder Makar who is their #1 prospect

3. Colorado would trade OTT #1 which is gold

Leafs would trade Gardiner who could/ probably walks unless they give him something like 7x7.plus they would include who I believe is Jesper Lindgren, former mid rounder unknown playing in Europe plus a 3rd.

Hmmm do you seriously think this happens?

That top lone of colorado is outstanding. I have a difficult time seeing them mess up the chemistry by trading any one of those three. Av’s are in need of secondary scoring. I can see them trading Makar for a Nylander type player. If Nylander was actually playing to his potential anyway. As it is, we probably don’t have anything to offer them until Nylander picks up his game again or Kapanen cents his place in the NHL with another good season next year to back this one up.
