I think Lou and Co. will have to start offloading contracts very soon.
IMO
The Leafs signed a few veteran AHLers that I'm not thrilled about taking spots from other young and comers, but they're needed for development in the minors too I guess.
Fehr, B. Smith, Greening and Marchenko are four names to me can be moved, yes they jus signed a couple these guys again, but, they're not needed.
I hate seeing Ben Smith in the line up
I hate seeing Fehr in there too
Yes Marchenko is useful for our thing blue line but, give Dermott a crack, he'll give Valiev or Nielsen a shot.
Greening is there for the AHL vet, whatever.

More seriously, JvR can be moved but obviously to bring something back. maybe even package some of these guys

JvR, Marchenko and 2018 2nd
For Tanev and 2018 4th
I dunno.
Fehr
To Vegas for a 6th rounder

That opens up two spots for any impressive invitees at camp
After Brown is sign Leafs sit at 49 pro contacts, no flexibility and there is always a couple free agents that impress.
Trevor Moore for example, had a nice rookie season for the Marlies, probably going to improve on it.

Jus my thoughts.

I'm sure the leafs have this planned out and I hope leivo and Kapanan getting playing time Babcock last week hinted there may not be room for JVR Bozak kadri and Komarov as leafs move forward something will shake out.

If Fehr and Smith make the opening day roster they will be the 13th and 14th forwards. Keeping young guys on the bench is a headache as the Leafs learned last year.

If contract dumping is necessary look for the same deal Lou made with the NYI in a 5 for 1 swap.
