This would give us a even better prospect pool with great chemistry.

There are better deals to be had at the draft table 3-7, 8, and 10

Your deal could be one of them, but the Leafs should work their way downward picking up extra picks.

The preference is to do a deal with 3-6 to leverage Edmonton who will likely try to do a deal for a defenceman by swapping picks with Arizona for 7th + extra.

There is a whole realm of opportunities with various scenarios that work well with the Leafs trading JVR.

Although the trade is not terrible, just don't see why the Leafs would trade a top LW for a C prospect when they will be drafting Matthews and hopefully signing Stamkos. The Leafs will already have to move out Bozak and Holland to make the players fit. Good player, wrong fit for Toronto.
