Toronto wants an established young defenseman to accelerate the rebuild on the blueline.

They have set their sights on Colorado RFA Matt Duchene. The cost, however will be high. as Avalanche will almost certainly ask for Marner. Look for Leafs to counter with Nylander.

You mean Tyson Barrie. Duchene is neither a defenceman nor a RFA. And Colorado will want a defenceman back in any deal.

Counter with nylander LOL basically both are our top prospect tied for #1 leafs would counter if you mean Barrie with maybe a defence man maybe gardiner considering Barrie's an RFA and Gardiners on a decent contract
